WELCOME TO WASHINGTON SCHOOL
Washington School is a Kindergarten through 8th grade school nestled near the South Yuba River in the rugged and beautiful foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The culturally rich, historic town of Washington was founded in 1849 during the height of the Gold Rush Days. Many historic buildings are still being used, including the school which was built in 1905. With small class sizes and multiple grades, students receive individual attention through personal instruction, cross age tutoring, and small group work. Washington School is reminiscent of one-room schoolhouses of the past. Parents and community members are active and supportive of their town’s little school. Traditions include the annual Halloween Parade, Sharing Stew, Senior Teas, a Winter Program, and field trips.
